Today is focused on saying Scripture out loud AND turning it into a prayer by inserting pronouns for those you are praying for…. NICE! Lisa Welchel is such a great guide in this – and I am thankful to this study.
The scripture for today is:
Be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over the present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take up the helmet of salvation and the sword of Spirit, which is the word of God.
Ephesians6:10-17
Talking about dressing to be prepared and to put it on EVERYDAY. If you are armed and prepared and guarded with the right materials you can conquer anything put in front of you – really you can. The struggle or battle might seem to take longer but if you hold your faith, your armor and the word close you can conquer!
I love the way Lisa turned this into a prayer, using this scripture she inserted herself into it asking God to stand with he while she “dresses” and arms herself for the evil out there – for my prayer today I will write out Lisa’s example of how she would work this scripture into a prayer…
Dear Lord I Pray…Lord, help me to be strong in You today, strong in the strength of Your might. I want to put on Your full armor so I can stand firm against Satan’s schemes. I know that my struggle is not against flesh and blood but against the rulers and powers of dark forces of this world – and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in heavenly places. So with Your help I’m taking up the full armor of God so I can resist evil and stand firm. Help me put on the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, and the shoes of readiness to share the gospel of peace. And above all, enable me to take up the shield of faith so I can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one shoots in my direction today. I want to wear the helmet of salvation and wield the sword of the Spirit – Your Word! Lord, may I be well armed, well dressed, and defended today by Your power. In Jesus’ name, amen.
