Not My Will But Thine

Posted by on Jul 31, 2019 in Daily Bible Verse Images

My verse of the day is:

The Lord’s Purpose Prevails.
(From the BibleVerse App)

Many are the plans of a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.

Proverbs 19:21

Over the past year, we’ve been dealing with the disintegration of what my heart would call “our happy family.” Many of us were strewn apart over lies that can’t be taken back. A career ruined while the agent overseeing things got a major raise and promotion. Just as I was at my lowest, losing my youngest when the court ordered her to live with her father, God had a surprise waiting just around the corner that completely caught me off guard. And then another. And another. And another.

Although life currently is NOTHING the way I’d planned it in my heart, it is exactly the way God wanted so I could learn the lessons that I needed. I’ve learned that:

  • I am not responsible for the action of my adult children.
  • When I refuse to let stress run me over and cause me to behave better, I am filled with peace and joy.
  • When I seek joy and peace and dismiss thoughts of worry in Jesus’ name, the devil loses his power over me and his manipulations get nowhere.
  • Forgiveness is the key to restoring my anger and hatred and replace them with love, kindness, and understanding.
  • Family grows closer when we struggle together.

Father, thank you for all the blessings you give me each and every day.

Thank you for teaching me that the many plans of my heart aren’t what matter; it is Your purpose that prevails. Thank you, Father for keeping me focused on you and for using this time of struggle to teach me to trust you.

I love you Lord. In the blessed name of your Son, Jesus, AMEN.

Fruits of the Spirit Friday: Silly Songs for Self Control???

Posted by on Mar 28, 2014 in Fruits of the Spirit Friday

I know you have probably heard the phrase before “music soothes the savage beast.” There really aren’t any savage beasts living in my house but I do struggle daily with the “beast” of temptation of letting stress get the best of me and losing my temper. So rather than have everyday stressing me out, I start singing. The sillier the better.

Sometimes they are Veggie Tales silly songs, sometimes they are songs I’ve made up, sometimes they are real songs I just change the words to. I’ve got songs for dishes, songs for naughty dogs, songs for laundry. Okay so now that I’m writing it out it does sound a little crazy. But having a silly song is what prevents me from being crazy. They are what helps keep me sane during the stressful day and they keep me happy when I would otherwise be stressed out and grumpy. These songs allow me to have the self control I need. It is one of the fruits of the spirit in my life. And with self control of this nature, I’ve also experience joy, peace, patience and more. So each day I thank God for my silly songs.

May you be blessed today and always.

Thankfulness Thursday: The right people at JUST the right time

Posted by on Mar 27, 2014 in Thankfulness Thursday

Have you ever noticed how God always seems to put the right people in the right place at the right time? Has a stranger ever smiled at you when you were having a bad day and it lifted your spirits? Did a friend just happen to stop by or call you when you needed them the most? Have you ever been encouraged by someone you never even met? Those are not coincidences. That’s God intervening.

Trials & Triumphs Tuesday: Solomon 10:9

Posted by on Mar 25, 2014 in Daily Bible Verse Images, Tuesday's Trials & Triumphs

Song of Solomon 10:9 (CEB) says:

But wisdom rescues her servants from their trials.

When I find a verse that is helpful to me or “speaks” to me in some way like this one, I like to look it up in other translations as well. Makes me very glad that I have the Bible app. 🙂 Well, when I tried to look up this verse in other versions, it did not exist. I have never had that happen before, but I just recently started looking at the Common English Bible.
