Ever since I stopped taking my RA medications a little over 2 weeks ago, I have been looking for way to detoxify my body from the chemicals that I had been ingesting, under medical advice, for seven years. I asked some online friends and they recommended to focus on my diet, which went along with what we were working on last week. This week… the drinks. Praise God! This is exactly what I have been looking for!
I have been drinking water with lemon cold for years, but today was the first day that I drank it warm. It was super yummy and a wonderful way to start off my day. I did add a little stevia to mine though, rather than drinking it plain. I figured since it was not an artificial sweetener, but one that helps your pancreas to function better, that it would be okay to add it to the warm lemon water regimen.
After I got the kids and Kevin off to work, I went to the store and bought some lemons and cranberry juice. The pure cranberry, no sugar added, juice was $10.00 per 32 ounce bottle, so that was not a feasible option for me. Since 16 ounces of juice was called for – that bottle would only last for 2 days – and $5 a day for cranberry juice would have blown our grocery budget and our bank account AND Kevin’s mind! LOL. BUT, I found a couple other options that will work – for about $4-$5 per 48 ounce bottle. Then, BONUS… one of the brands was on sale, buy one get one free, so I was able to get TWO 48-ounce bottles for around $5.00. That’s more like it! Granted it has a mix of juices, but a good potion of cranberry and it was No Sugar Added – so that is what I came home with.
So far, I have had two, 20-ounce glasses of 1/4 cranberry and 3/4 water blends. I need to have one more with dinner to get enough of that for the day, but I don’t know if I want any more of the cranberry. I am actually craving water, maybe with a little lemon, or maybe just plain. I guess I am just not a big juice drinker – even if it is watered down. 🙂
The author did warn of some stomach pain and headaches that can go along with detoxing the body in this way. So far, my stomach feels okay – better than it did yesterday. 🙂 My head though – ugh – it has been hurting on and off as I have been trying to step down my Tramadol. Today, with the pain med withdrawal mixed with the enhanced water detox, my head is killing me again… plus I have been unable to keep warm all day (another withdrawal/detox sign) and it was like 65 degrees out today. I am praying during this transition time and I KNOW that this too will pass.
Be blessed today – and enjoy some enhanced water for a healthier you!
PS: I almost forgot to share!!!!!! I went for a walk – OUTSIDE – today. I went down to the cul-de-sac and back to my house once (about 7 minutes at an average pace), then grabbed my coat and did it once more! I was so excited – it has been a LONG time since I have been able to do that – almost a year! Thank you Father!
Great job Alicia you passed me up – I made it to 32 ounces of water and juice today – on to tomorrow to make the quota. I so agree with you, the warm lemon water was so relaxing this morning! I am so happy for you that you were able to walk outside today – glad you started looking at it as completing part of the 60 minutes and working up SLOWLY is an accomplishment and can be praised! Congrats to you!
Thank you Christina! You will get there – we each have our struggles. So glad we have each other to help us to push on!
